Time To Water? Stop & Think.

   November  2014

Over 80% of the LADWP’s water is imported. In response to diminishing supplies due to environmental issues in the Sacramento–San Joaquin River Delta and local droughts, the City of Los Angeles has adopted several water conserving ordinances.

                              New Watering Days
Based on the last number of your street address, your watering days are as follows:

ODD ending in 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9:
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

EVEN ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8:
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays

Fraction addresses are treated as whole numbers and observe the same day restrictions as others on their same side of the street (i.e.: 4321 ½ is regarded as 4321, an odd-numbered address).

Run sprinklers 8 minutes maximum per station before 9:00 a.m. and after 4:00 p.m. only.

Sprinkler Use Restrictions:
Outdoor watering with sprinklers is restricted to three days a week on the assigned watering days

Nozzle sprinkler systems is two 15-minute cycles per watering day for conserving nozzle sprinkler systems.

• All outdoor watering is prohibited from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., regardless of the watering day.

As the Water Conservation Response Unit patrols the streets, they will have available conservation information and devices such as literature, low flow shower heads, and faucet aerators. They will also respond to reports of water waste emailed waterwaste@ladwp.com or phoned in to the LADWP Customer Call Center at 1-800-DIAL-DWP (1-800-342-5397).

                  Think About Replacing Your Grass

Effective May 14, 2014, the single family residential program provides $3.00 per square foot of grass removed and converted to drought tolerant landscaping.
California Friendly® Landscape Incentive Program LADWP launched the Landscape Incentive Program in 2009, which involves replacing turf grass with California Friendly plants, mulch, and permeable pathways. Since turf grass is very expensive to maintain, requiring heavy water use and lots of attention, the California Friendly Landscape Incentive Program is a great way to save money and more importantly, save water for both residential and commercial customers.

Please note that application pre-approval is required before starting any landscape project.
